For the finale of our 2026 Festival Orchestra Week, Maestro Moody welcomes British pianist George Harliono to perform Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 2. One of the most exciting young pianists on the international scene, Harliono was the Silver Medalist at the 2023 International Tchaikovsky Competition. He now regularly performs recitals and concerto performances around the world. For the concert’s masterwork, the Orchestra takes us to outer space with the bold and luminous orchestral blockbuster, The Planets by Holst. From the pounding aggression of Mars to the romantic lyricism of Venus, The Planets—one of the most popular orchestral works of all time— describes the seven planets of ancient astrology, each with their own mysterious properties which shape our human lives and characters.
