Seo Jungmin

Musical Instrument Museum
Start Date
June 30 @ 7:00 pm
End Date
June 30 @ 8:30 pm

This engagement of Seo Jungmin is made possible in part through the Performing Arts Global Exchange program of Mid Atlantic Arts with support from the National Endowment for the Arts. This program is supported in part by Center Stage Korea, Korea Arts Management Service, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Arts Council Korea.

Korean musician and composer Seo Jungmin pushes the boundaries between traditional and contemporary music with her exceptional skills on the 25-string kayagŭm zither.

In 2016, Seo released her debut solo album, COSMOS 25, which garnered critical acclaim and was nominated in the Excellent Crossover Album category at the 2017 Korean Music Awards. Her concert project HOME received the prestigious Repertoire of the Year award from Arts Council Korea.

With her refreshing blend of kayagŭm, shamanic vocals, and percussion, Seo mesmerizes audiences with her latest work, One, My Utopia!. Inspired by the gut, a shamanistic ceremony from the Jeolla-do region of South Korea, Seo performs alongside award-winning Korean p’ansori singer Kim Yulhee and percussionist You Byungwook.
