BLKBOK: Pivotal Moments that Bind Us at the Musical Instrument Museum

Join us at the Musical Instrument Museum in Scottsdale, AZ, for an extraordinary performance by the uniquely gifted pianist BLKBOK. His dexterous neoclassical arrangements and poignant, melodic scores paint an audible portrait of the American experience. He encapsulates the pivotal moments that bind us.

Born Charles Wilson III in Detroit’s inner city, BLKBOK experienced immersion in music from a young age. By the age of 8, he had already gained recognition as a piano prodigy. While many of his peers gravitated towards hip-hop, adopting rapper names and personas, Wilson chose the name BLKBOK. In fact, this is a nod to his profound skills and a homage to one of the greatest pianists and composers ever.

BLKBOK’s sophomore album, 9, is a powerful tribute to the Little Rock Nine and a statement on love and togetherness. It is composed of a series of intimate stories told from an inclusive Black perspective. Moreover, the album celebrates Black excellence and fosters a world where we can acknowledge and celebrate diversity and equity.

His latest single, “Shadows × Light,” was released in February. It also showcases BLKBOK’s deep connection to storytelling through music, exploring themes of contrast and harmony.

Experience BLKBOK’s mesmerizing performance live at the Musical Instrument Museum. His music showcases his incredible piano talent and ability to connect deeply with his audience. Expect rich narratives and emotional depth. Don’t miss seeing one of today’s most profound musical talents deliver a moving and transformative performance.
