Guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter Al Jardine is best known as one of the founding members of the Beach Boys. An accomplished musician on a variety of stringed instruments, Jardine played rhythm guitar in the Beach Boys (and bass on early recordings) and sang the lead on the number one hit “Help Me, Rhonda.” He also wrote or cowrote several songs, most notably on the albums Holland, Carl and the Passions—”So Tough”, Surf’s Up, and Sunflower. In 2025, Jardine re-formed the incredibly talented and seasoned members of Brian Wilson’s touring band as the Pet Sounds Band. This tribute to Wilson, who died in June, includes the Beach Boys’ greatest hits as well as rarities and deep cuts. The Pet Sounds Band also features Al’s son Matt Jardine, who has performed with the Beach Boys and Wilson for decades and has received rave reviews for his youthful, Brian Wilson-like vocals.
