Sandra Bassett Named President and Chief Executive Officer of West Valley Arts Council

West Valley Arts Council is proud to announce that Sandra Bassett, an accomplished arts & culture and business professional, is the new President and Chief Executive Officer of WVAC!

Bassett has extensive experience in cultural program implementation, finance management, and revenue growth for prominent for-profit and non-profit organizations. “I am excited to have this opportunity to continue the great work the WVAC has done in the West Valley since 1969, and to be bringing new creative programming to fruition that will continue to strengthen the West Valley Arts Council and make the West Valley stand out among other regions in the state.” Bassett expressed.

Bassett’s vast international and national arts & cultural experience, combined with her years of dynamic leadership roles in business, gives her the exact knowledge and capabilities this role needs. Kathy Knecht, Chair of the Board, said,

“The board is excited about Sandra’s magic mix of business and arts experience. Her incredible enthusiasm and energy will be instrumental in reenergizing West Valley Arts. Our goal is to be well-positioned to meet the cultural needs of West Valley Cities, community arts organizations, students and the community at large. We’re committed to being the arts and culture leader for the region and we are confident that Sandra will help us deliver.”

About Sandra Bassett

Sandra Bassett has earned her M.B.A. in Business Administration from Walden University and a Bachelor’s in Business Management from Kentucky State University. Sandra has a rich background in executive and managerial positions in the for-profit sector for brands such as Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, Hostess Brand, Inc, and Mars Inc.

She is also an engaging, entertaining, and gifted strategist, educator, trainer, motivational speaker, and professional musician. Originally from Detroit, MI and now based in Phoenix, AZ, Sandra embraces the musical history of her birthplace and enjoys performing in many styles, including Jazz, R&B, Blues and Motown. She is also a member of the American Federation of Musicians, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc and other community and professional organizations.
