Flagstaff Arts Council Executive Director Jonathan Stone announced Friday the new mission and vision for the organization.
OUR NEW MISSION IS TO foster creative opportunity
OUR NEW VISION IS THAT Flagstaff is a vibrant creative community at the intersection of art and science.
Including both art and science allows them to be more inclusive in their community and promoting creativity as a way of life.
In addition to grantmaking, Flagstaff Arts Council manages the operation of the Coconino Center for the Arts and programs such as Viola Awards, First Friday ArtWalk, Art Box among others.
Their priorities are expanding to include placemaking, outreach and resiliency. And since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, they have:
- Launched a $100,000 nonprofit relief fund
- Weekly art, science and culture leadership meetings
- Expanded marketing efforts
- Reimagined First Friday ArtWalk
