If you haven’t already heard, we have some exciting news! Earlier today, Governor Doug Ducey released his executive budget, outlining his priorities for the State of Arizona, and we are thrilled to announced that Governor Ducey included a $2 million General Fund appropriation in his budget for local grants through the Arizona Commission on the Arts!
Please take a moment to thank Governor Ducey for recognizing and honoring the significant contributions that arts & culture (arts) make to Arizona and acknowledging the value of the arts by proposing $2 million in his initial and early executive budget proposal. To be included from the very start is significant achievement for which the Governor should be strongly commended!
We believe that State funding in support of Arizona’s amazing arts sector is critical as the Legislature and Governor begin their annual budget negotiations. We will continue to amplify the strong voice of artists and organizations, throughout the State, to help advocate for that baseline request, and to seek additional funding through further Legislative efforts. We also invite you to join us on for our biggest advocacy day of the year, Arts Congress 2020!
As we move into 2020, remember to love and support each other.
We once again applaud Governor Ducey for including arts funding in his budget and hope that you will take to social media @dougducey to thank him for including arts funding in his executive budget.
