Copland’s Symphony is firmly rooted in America\, with nods to the composer’s Fanfare for the Common Man. The jubilant work\, a celebration of the end of World War II\, is a true example of The Great American Symphony. Inspired by Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man\, Joan Tower’s Fanfare for the Uncommon Woman is the final in a series of six tributes to adventurous women. This one honors the Cuban-American composer Tania León. \n
