SUMMARY:Christian McBride & Edgar Meyer
DESCRIPTION:The meeting of great minds usually happens behind closed doors\, but for two of the world’s foremost bassists — Christian McBride and Edgar Meyer — the collaboration proved so fruitful that a duo album\, But Who’s Gonna Play the Melody?\, exploring their collective backgrounds\, was born. \nNow they’re taking their show on the road for very select tour dates! The legendary bassists will meld McBride’s jazz and R&B fusion with Meyer’s bluegrass and classical sensibilities for what is sure to be an unforgettable performance of new compositions as well as timeless\, American standards. \nThe bass is traditionally seen as the bedrock of an ensemble and no living bassists have done as much to bring the instrument from the background to the spotlight as Christian McBride and Edgar Meyer. Both belong to an elite cadre of musicians whose jaw-dropping virtuosity on their chosen instruments is matched only by the profound soul and emotion of their playing and the spectrum-wide range of their tastes. \nTwo bass legends\, one spectacular night – don’t miss this special show!

SUMMARY:Copland's Fanfare for America
DESCRIPTION:The 2025–26 Classic Series comes to a stirring finale with music of America. Maestro Gomez’s discovery of music by Robert Mucyznski\, the late head of composition at the University of Arizona\, continues with his Symphony (1953) receiving its first-ever performance. It is paired with Copland’s vibrant\, muscular Symphony No. 3 and Joan Tower’s Sixth Fanfare for the Uncommon Woman. Copland’s Symphony is firmly rooted in America\, with nods to the composer’s Fanfare for the Common Man. The jubilant work\, a celebration of the end of World War II\, is a true example of The Great American Symphony. Inspired by Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man\, Joan Tower’s Fanfare for the Uncommon Woman is the final in a series of six tributes to adventurous women. This one honors the Cuban-American composer Tania León. \n
