SUMMARY:Festival Orchestra: Rachmaninoff & Brahms Featuring Ben Beilman\, Violin
DESCRIPTION:It’s been said that Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2 is a “perfectly proportioned\, ingeniously constructed and melodically exultant” work. Following the Symphony’s successful premiere in 1908\, acclaim for the work was so widespread that the composer was anointed a worthy successor to the great Tchaikovsky. Well-known for composing lush and sweeping melodies\, the composer reaches one of his career peaks with the Second Symphony’s Adagio\, the main theme of which is among the most ravishing melodies Rachmaninoff ever composed. For this special concert\, featured guest soloist is violin virtuoso Ben Beilman performing Brahms’ Violin Concerto. Acclaimed around the globe\, Beilman has won praise both for his passionate performances and deep rich tone which the Washington Post called “mightily impressive\,” while Strad Magazine described his playing as “pure poetry.”

SUMMARY:Empire At Sea
DESCRIPTION:An interactive\, social\, augmented reality “survival of the species” story set in a futuristic city at sea. This episodic\, Solarpunk drama speaks directly to the climate change generation with an action-packed father-daughter story that addresses themes of sustainability\, multicultural communities\, matriarchal lineage\, and the conflict between inclusionary and exclusionary social principles – all with a phenomenal cast of characters\, including Orlando Jones (American Gods) and Ayelet Zurer (Stephen Spielberg’s Munich). A group of climate scientists take a research sabbatical on a remote oil rig to experiment with creating a sustainable ecosystem on the harsh\, open ocean. Before their return home\, the Big One hits and the mainland is wiped out. The drama centers on the sudden appearance of a boat on the horizon for the first time in four years\, and whether our group should allow its occupants on board. We experience the story with twelve participants using immersive AR headsets\, which allow us to follow the characters as large cinematic holograms and explore the magical setting on our custom-made interactive LED table.
