Arizona Opera Film Festival: Opera on the Reel

Arizona Opera’s popular summer opera film festival returns beginning June 2022! Enjoy three fantastic operas on the big screen as we spread the art of opera to Harkins Theaters in Scottsdale and Tucson. This season, we are presenting films that represent works performed by multiple opera companies, including Opera Philadelphia’s La Traviata, San Francisco Opera’s Rigoletto, and Arizona Opera’s The Copper Queen Film.

As the doomed heroine Violetta, celebrated soprano Lisette Oropesa headlines this 2020 production of Verdi’s timeless tragedy, starring opposite tenor Alek Shrader as her lover, Alfredo, and baritone Stephen Powell as Alfredo’s overbearing father, Giorgio Germont. Corrado Rovaris conducts Paul Curran dazzling staging.
