Peabo Bryson

Musical Instrument Museum
Start Date
June 23 @ 7:00 pm
End Date
June 23 @ 8:30 pm

Peabo Bryson is one of the premier male vocalists in contemporary music over the past half century. His voice is beautifully rich, almost operatic. The two-time Grammy winner has enjoyed international success, and he was the first artist to have separate records topping four different charts.

His duets with Natalie Cole (“What You Won’t Do for Love”) and Roberta Flack (“Tonight, I Celebrate My Love”) earned Bryson the tag “the King of Balladeers.” “If Ever You’re in My Arms Again” was a crossover hit, landing in the top ten on the pop charts. A remake of the late Al Wilson’s “Show and Tell” earned Bryson his first number one R&B single. He topped the R&B chart again with the smash hit “Can You Stop the Rain”; the single garnered Bryson a 1991 Grammy nomination for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance, and so did “Lost in the Night” in 1992.

But it was two songs for Disney animated films that earned Bryson his two Grammys: “Beauty and the Beast,” a 1991 duet with Céline Dion; and the number one hit “A Whole New World (Aladdin’s Theme),” which he sang with Regina Belle.
